Freemasonry traces its orign from King Solomon's times, but its real origin is lost in antiquity. Freemasonry in its present from originated in England in 1717, it came to India in 1729 at Kolkata.

Over 5 million Freemasons in over 190 countries belief in its basic tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. India has over 350 lodges in 140 locations all over the country.

Freemasonry encourages:
- Charity, as the distinguishing characteristic of every Freemason's heart
- Moral virtues of Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence and Justice
